On a Sunday that felt both heavy and beautiful, the Tariro family gathered to say farewell to one of our own — Sis Barbs, a dedicated member of the TYP Board of Trustees.
It wasn’t just a goodbye. It was a thanksgiving for the years of wisdom, love, and service she poured into us.

A Eucharistic Service to Begin

The day began with worship at 11am sharp. Reverend Canon Mutasa led us in a beautiful Eucharistic service. The church was full — trustees, members, friends, and family all seated together.
The hymns, prayers, and the Gospel Word set the tone for the morning: gratitude. As we broke bread together, we were reminded that even in farewells, God is present. Canon Mutasa’s message spoke of seasons, calling, and the blessing of faithful service. It was the perfect way to commit Sis Barbs and the next chapter of her life into God’s hands.

Speech Time And Gifts: Stories, Laughter, and Tears
After service came the part we had all been waiting for — speech time!!
One by one, people stood up to celebrate the time we had with Sis Barbs.

There were stories about her quiet counsel in board meetings. Stories about her checking in when someone was down. Stories about the tough lessons she taught us with love, and the gentle way she held us accountable.
She didn’t just sit on the Board of Trustees. She shepherded us with so much love.
She taught us about integrity, to show up as well as serving without looking for applause.
There was laughter as we remembered her one-liners. There were tears as we realized how much we will miss her presence in the room. But above all, there was honor.

Graduating from Her Lessons:

In her response, Sis Barbs thanked everyone and reminded us that her work here was never about her — it was about Tariro family and the people we serve.
And as we listened, it hit us: We can now say that most of us we have graduated from the lessons she taught us.

We’ve learned how to lead with humility.
We’ve learned how to put mission before ego.
We’ve learned how to pray, plan, and persist.

Sis Barbs may be stepping back from the Board, but the foundation she helped lay will carry Tariro family forward.
